I don’t know what it was about this night, but like Kelis, my milkshake was bringing all the boys to the yard..or the men to the hill. I went to meet my girlfriend Catherine (in town for work from Charleston. SHOUT OUT TO THE CVB! Charleston Visitors Bureau) at The W for a few cocktails. We caught up on all things Charleston, from the new restaurants I’m going to try when I head down for Charleston Fashion Week to the gossip around town. A few glasses of wine later we decided to move our little party to her favorite place in the city, Old Ebbitt’s Grill.
While we were there an older gentleman (and by older I mean probably older than my father) came over to order a drink and started a conversation. Come to find out he was visiting from Augusta, Ga. and has NEVER been to Charleston. So we started raving about the city and all of its glory. He then said, “I would love to go, I just don’t have anyone to go with…I would need a tour guide.†while giving me the you-should-come-with-me eyes. I said coyly, “Oh you really don’t need a tour guide.†After a few more words were exchanged he went back to his friends.
During the break from my gentleman suitor, an officer of the law came in to get a glass of water. At which point I told him about getting out of the neighborhood more often and meeting new people. He said he would be more than willing to show me around, we exchanged numbers, and he went back to work. Later that evening I got a text message from said officer saying he would like to take me out…back to the bar…before my sugar daddy left he came over, handed me his card, and said, “Seriously. Email me. By the way, what was your name?†I said, “Brooke†he said, “Brooke…like Creek…Brooke.â€
I don’t think I will be sending an email anytime soon BUT THIS WAS THE NIGHT I WAS LOOKING FOR! So much fun!!! Full of friends, wine, and stories…and let’s be honest. It’s all about the stories.
