America 1…Brooke 0

4Th

Well….America….you win.

After 4 days of ridiculousness in your honor, I need a week of recovery. So here we are at Get Your Life Right Monday. This is a day where I balance my checkbook, drink water, think about what I did over the last few days, slap myself on the wrist, and say, “I swear I’ll start being a responsible productive member of society. Soon…”

Let’s talk about how we got to this point

Wednesday Night-The Midtown Liberty Bar Crawl.  It was the beginning of the end. The crawl was amazing. We went from Bar to Bar in Dupont Circle drinking Coors Light and doing shots of Fireball. Along the way we met a Kate Upton look alike at The Front Page, made besties with Star the Bartender at Bread & Brew. OH and how can I forget about dancing to Michael Jackson songs at Fiesta Tapas & Restaurant and Lounge…pretty sure I tried to salsa too. Hopefully there is no video of that.

Thursday-A Day For America Why wouldn’t we celebrate all day (ALL DAY) on the rooftop of the building I live in with Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, & Vodka Infused Gummy Bears…Fun Fact- Gummy Bears don’t do well in the heat

Friday was a little more low key…and by low key I mean I only had a few beers at Cactus Cantina, a few at Café Deluxe, and a few at my BF’s house while he was grilling steaks and wearing a tank top. Saturday I wanted to lay low…but that just wasn’t an option.OldTownAlexandria doesn’t work that way. We had dinner at Columbia Firehouse (Go there! Order the Chicken Pot Pie…and the sausage plate. YOU WONT REGRET IT) and then multiple shots at Murphy’s while Irish music played in the background. Sunday Funday-It was cut short (at least by our Sunday Funday Standards) because my body just couldn’t handle it anymore. As delicious as brunch was at Medium Rare and as bottomless as the mimosas/bloody’s/screwdrivers were, an hour and a half in I had to throw in my American Flag towel. I was done. I surrender USA…Washington DC…July 3-7th….GeorgeWashington…

While my body is hurting and a few days off are imperative, when I start to think, “I’m NEVER drinking again!” I think about what the late great Ben Franklin once said, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” I want to be happy. And we wouldn’t have bifocals or swim fins without him! I just want to be like Ben…happy, with swim fins, drinking beer, and lovingAmerica…so pour me another beer (tomorrow).
