After today I have decided that I am either the BEST Bride in the World…or the WORST Bride in the World.
There are so many things I’ve realized I really don’t care about.
*I don’t care about save the dates.
*I don’t care about seating arrangements.
* I want easy food and lots of booze…not a seated dinner with saucers underneath the plates.
*I don’t care about the cake…but know it’s a necessary part of the whole shebang so I will have one.
*I think people spend WAY TOO MUCH money  on Weddings.
And finally…I hated the “trying on dresses experience.”
Let me start by saying this, Al (one of my bridesmaids) and I went for a dress fitting appointment at David’s Bridal this afternoon. For me I just needed a Base of a dress…a foundation…because my Aunt Mary Rita is going to add all the jazz and awesomeness to it. She’s pretty incredible, check out some of her work. I probably wouldn’t have done a “dress fitting” if it wasn’t for Al making the appointment. Katherine was incredible (my stylist), the folks at David’s Bridal were incredible, but I didn’t feel like a glowing bride. In the dressing room Katherine said, “When a bride finds her dress she just knows. I have had women cry because they were so happy.” I looked at her and said, “Don’t worry there wont be any tears today.” (I was right)
I felt fat. Â I was flushed from all of the trying on. I didn’t feel like a Pretty Princess I felt like a Fat Cow…
*Luckily, I also had an appointment with a weight loss doctor at Persona Doctors an hour before my dress fitting. I WILL be where I want to be by the wedding!
Then I tried on my 4th dress…I loved the shape. Loved the style. I loved it.
Three Hundred Dollars (literally! 316.94)
Two People (Me & Al)
Here’s what I realized after the whole experience…
* You really DON’T know what kind of dress you want until you start trying them on. The dresses I “liked” online looked awful when I put them on and a style I didn’t think I would like ended up being the one I chose.
* Go with someone who won’t lie to you. When I hated a dress and knew I looked terrible in it she didn’t try to sugar coat it. I love that because when I found the dress, I believed her when she told me that it looked really good.
*THERE IS NO NEED TO SPEND A GAZILLION DOLLARS ON A DRESS! I found my dress for $300 at David’s Bridal! While mine is going to be doctored up by my Aunt Mary Rita, the dress would be gorgeous by itself.
*Just because you don’t cry or like trying on dresses it doesn’t mean you aren’t excited about getting married and it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you. We all get excited about different things. I, for one, am really excited about the Bridesmaids Gifts and the Groom Gift. I’ve been Pinteresting Away!
