In an attempt to support my boyfriend on his 7 day cleanse, I decided to bite the bullet and put down the booze for a week. ONE WHOLE WEEK. To some that may seem like a breeze. I, on the other hand, have not had 7 days in a row without a drink since…well…since I can remember.
I’m not saying I’m going out taking shots every other night…BUT I do partake in a glass or two of wine a couple days a week.
It’s over Thursday but in less than 7 days I have learned alot.
Lesson #1Â I CAN’T NOT DRINK FOR 7 STRAIGHT DAYS
If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, you know that I am weak. And that on Sunday, I fell off the wagon.
Lesson #2 Virtue Feed & Grain is AMAZING & I should brunch there more often.
I was invited to a brunch at Virtue last March by my girlfriend Lisa. While I made it to Alexandria that Sunday (March 17th), I didn’t make it to brunch at Virtue because I was busy drinking my face off at Murphy’s. Blowing off that brunch was the best decision I’ve ever made because that is the day I met my boyfriend Jim, HOWEVER, I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to check out this place! The atmosphere is incredible, the food was AMAZING ( I had the quinoa salad. YUMMY!), and the drinks were worth it!
Lesson #3 Planet Fitness is The S***
I heard about their $10 down $10 a month promotion and since it is around the corner from my place, I decided to check it out. It seemed too good to be true, but IT WAS GOOD AND IT WAS TRUE! The place has everything I need for working out (wasn’t necessarily up to Jim’s gym standards but that’s because he’s a boy that needs a lot of weights). Not only do I get to watch one of the many TVs while on the treadmill, after I’m done, I GET TO GO TANNING!!!! I upgraded to the “black card membership” (it’s $20 a month). Tanning, Massage Bed, Massage Chairs….yep I get to do all of them with no extra charge! You can’t even get a one month tanning package for that price.
Lesson #4 My Neighbor Has Great Taste in Music
While I was in the shower, my neighbor was rocking out! Normally I would be annoyed with the fact that the walls were thin enough to hear my neighbor’s playlist, but not this time. The playlist brought me back to early 2000. First it was “All I Have” by JLo & LL Cool J then Ashanti then Jagged Edge…I was loving every minute of it. I wanted to bang on the wall and tell her/him to turn it up!
Lesson #5 I Need To Find A Hobby
Saturday when the errands were done and everything was clean, I had no idea what to do. We ended up watching football and going to the gym (and yes it was enjoyable), but I really had NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I mean something I would enjoy doing. Going to the gym is necessary because my ass is out of shape, but I don’t enjoy it. I only like football when it’s college and I have a beer in my hand…and that definitely wasn’t the case. Suggestions on hobbies? I’d love any advice you can give.
Overall it’s been nice to give my liver a break, but this lifestyle just is not for me. I enjoy being social. I enjoy having a cocktail. I’m not the girl that can go to the bar and watch other people drink. I want to be a part of it. With that being said, I will more than likely fall off the wagon again tonight during my podcast at District 2 Bar & Grille. It’s called “I Love This Buzz”! I would be doing it a disservice if I didn’t have at least one glass of wine, right?!?!?!
AND you know what…5 days out of 7 is good enough for me!
