My Thoughts On The Biggest Loser

Loser

I have been thinking about this story since I woke up this morning and checked USWeekly.com.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to write about it or just leave it alone, but as the headline continues to pop up on every site I have been on today, I feel like I must.

Loser

Rachel Frederickson goes on The Biggest Loser, loses 155 lbs, wins the competition, and now is being judged for being “too skinny”. At 5’5 105lbs, she is a little too thin for my liking, BUT if she’s happy with her size, GET IT GIRL! If not, eat a few more bacon cheeseburgers to get to the weight you want to be.

Either way, I understand her wanting to be as thin as possible for the weigh in.

The reality of it is…she was in a COMPETITION to lose weight. So not only was the weight loss going to help her health and confidence, it also came with a $250,000 check! The guy that came in 2nd place wasn’t that far behind her losing 54.28% of his body weight (she lost 59.62% ).

Can you imagine if you were Rachel and decided…Ehhhhh 105 lbs is “unhealthy skinny”… I’ll stay at 110… and then losing the competition! I’d be pissed. IT’S A COMPETITION!

It is also very common for people to leave The Biggest Loser and gain some of the weight back (sometimes it’s all of it sometimes it’s just a few pounds but it happens). It was their primary job for however many weeks to work out, eat right, and lose weight. They have the best trainers, equipment, and healthy food options. Going back to real life means life will sometimes get in the weigh…see what I did there =)

Dinner parties, work, kids, etc. Life happens. Yes they will have the skills and knowledge on how to make better choices but they are not going to be able to live the same life they did on the show.

I guess what I am trying to say is, Give the chick a break. She just lost a bunch of weight! She won $50,000. She looks awesome.

Fun Fact-I don’t watch The Biggest Loser, I’ve never watched The Biggest Loser, but I have purchased The Biggest Loser carrots at Giant so I feel connected to the show.
