The morning started pretty much like any other morning. Woke up at 4:40 am, showered, grabbed my “Shhhh There’s Wine In This” coffee mug, and off to the 2 Girls and a Guy studio I went.
There were a few things that made this day a little more exciting.
- My husband is taking a class downtown so I knew I was going to meet up with him for Happy Hour. Even though DT is only 10 min from where we live, we don’t get down there as much as I would like to. So knowing we were going to 82 Queen for drinks put a pep in my step!
- Also, I had a Super Secret Photo Shoot that afternoon (you’ll find out in the next few weeks). That meant GLAM SQUAD TIME! My friend Katie Shayda is an awesome hair and make up artist in Charleston and she primped, powdered, and made me look fabulous for the shoot.
- Follow Katie on Instagram.
The photo shoot wrapped and Blake and I were getting ready to head out to lunch when the phone rang. I saw it was from Jules (our Mortgage Loan Officer).
*Sidenote- If you are in the market for a house and need someone to help with the Mortgage, CALL JULES! He has been the the most incredible help through the process. Especially being someone that comes with a Scarlet Letter (aka a Foreclosure) on my Credit History. I really have only the BEST things to say about him. He held our hand through the process, met with us multiple times, and never got annoyed when I called with ridiculous questions. He was amazing. Click Here to reach out to Jules.
Back to the call…the phone rings. Jules says, “It’s not over till it’s over…” and immediately I thought Well…we didn’t get approved for a home loan. Then he said, “Butttttttttt you have been pre-approved for X amount.” I was shocked. I really didn’t think the bank was going to favor us (I mean I knew why I foreclosed and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change my decision. It was a bad investment. Circumstantial. Other than that my credit is good. I just didn’t think the Bank would look at it the same way.)
I couldn’t wait to share the good news with Jim. We celebrated with wine and beer at 82 Queen. We barely spoke because the whole time we had our Zillow app pulled up looking at the potential future. It would be silent, then you would hear, “ooooo Babe. this one has a pool.” or “This one is really nice but it’s a little further in West Ashley than we want to go…what do you think?”

After a few glasses, Jim said the words that always make me feel all fuzzy on the inside…
“Let’s just get a hotel room and stay downtown tonight.”
Even though the alarm would still go off at 4:15am and to most it might seem like a waste of a night in a hotel room when we live 10 min away, it is one of my favorite things to do!
After posting on Facebook that we were going to be staying downtown, my pal Brian, reached out and suggested we come stay at The Restoration.
Ummmmmm have you seen this place? Have you been there? It is EVERYTHING!
Also, My new favorite view of the city is from The Watch Rooftop Kitchen & Spirits. Seriously, even if you aren’t going to take a staycation and book yourself a room downtown, you need to head up to The Watch, order a bottle of wine, and the deviled eggs.
After a few glasses of wine, I got a little emotional and was feeling very grateful. Instead of just sharing it with my husband, I opted to share it with the world via Social Media. Not just in the form of a disappear after 24 hour Instagram Story or Snapchat, but in a proper post on Facebook. One that will live there forever.
