I love being a “STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO LOVES HER CAREER AND DOESN’T NEED TO PUT ON AN APRON TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HOUSEHOLD…CHECK MY CONTRIBUTION IN THE BANK”(yes there is an aggressive tone and occasional side clap included in this statement)…
But I also really do love getting the house in order, putting on an apron, and entertaining a guest.
Last night Jim’s Grandmother, Mimmie, came into town from Memphis, Tennessee to spend the weekend with us. My inner housewife kicked in and right when I got home from work at noon I got to work!
I had 5 hours to…
Vacuum and Shampoo carpets ( 5 rooms)
Clean Bathrooms (2)
Unload dishwasher/reload the nasty ass dishes that have been sitting in the sink for a day
Clean out the sink from the dishes sitting there
Wash sheets/comforter in the guest room
Pick up random stuff that has been just lying around
I was like Cinderella after 4 cans of Redbull but I got it done!
Then it was off to the kitchen. On the menu for the evening was The Silver Palate’s Chicken Marbella with Gnocchi. Jim is not a fan of olives so I replaced the green olives with pearl onions.
Side note tip- using fresh pearl onions is annoying. The peeling and squeezing…not worth it. Just get the frozen ones. They work just as well.
The Chicken Marbella was practically done the night before so it was just about adding white wine & brown sugar and putting it in the oven. While the dish was cooking I set the table with the china (not gonna lie I had to look up how the silverware is supposed to be placed), and poured myself a glass of wine. I deserved it.
Dinner was ready and on the table when Mimmie arrived.
Look closely in this picture above…someone wanted a place at the table.

Dinner was a complete success.
As much fun as it was playing the roll of Housewife yesterday, I was glad to get back to my real life this morning as a Radio Personality that knows dinner this evening will be provided by Halls Chophouse.
