If you listened to the radio in 1992 there is no way you could’ve avoided ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVERY WRITTEN AND RECORDED…”Jump”
Let me take you back to my fondest memory of the “Mac Daddy” and “Daddy Mac”…
Early 90’s, Bakersfield, California, at the Kern Country Fair. The smell of hay, funnel cakes, and..well…Bakersfield (Bakersfield has a..unique..smell) filled the air. Every night there was a different concert…and one particular night…a night that I happened to be there…Kris Kross was performing on the main stage. I didn’t have tickets to that show (I guess my parents didn’t love me enough) but being that it was an outdoor stadium I was able to listen outside the stands and Jump Jump!
Mr. Kelly and Mr. Smith (their last names) continued to make music…but tried to drop their fun boyish act and head in another direction( i.e. Young, Rich, & Dangerous…not great guys…not great.) I had to JUMP off board…I missed that bus…
Luckily it’s been years since that album and I’ve had time to get over it. Not only get over it, but yearn for the return of my favorite Miggity Miggity Miggity Miggity Macks.
This week…my prayers were answered. KRIS KROSS is reuniting for a 20th Anniversary All Star Def Jams Concert in the ATL next month!
So in honor of this joyous occasion…I wore my clothes backwards!
Thank you Will Lambert for letting me borrow your pants =)
