Most people arrange their “Super Dooper Cleaning” schedule around holidays and weather changes. I choose to do it around the times that I am most stressed out. When there are a lot of things going on and I feel like I’m losing control and surrounded by chaos (even good chaos), I choose to regain my control over things like my closet (getting rid of items I don’t think I need anymore)…or the cabinets in the kitchen (rearranging the cups and the plates because the cups make more sense on the plate shelf and vice versa)…or even old photos (because I don’t need all 13 pictures I took of the ocean while in Pismo Beach on Spring Break 1998). Â Luckily this year, they seemed to coincide. Alas…my Spring Cleaning!
In case you were wondering, Yes. I did all of those things.Â
This morning I finished a task that took me a few hours yesterday and about an hour this morning and it was one of the most gratifying cleaning experiences I have had in a long time.
I cleaned out my iPhone.
When I found out about linking your contacts from Facebook to Gmail to whatever else there is to link to, I did it. That along with constantly adding “random girl I met at a bar and wanted to be besties with” or never cleaning out any of some of my older contacts, you can imagine it was a pretty big list.
So yesterday I started deleting…and couldn’t stop!
I decided that I was going to delete anyone I haven’t spoken to in the last year (unless they were family, work contacts, random people’s numbers I didn’t want to lose, etc)
It was so cleansing!
While deleting I found-
* 4 people that have Passed Away * 2 that are in jail *Too Many contacts without last names * 5 numbers I saved that were just numbers, no name, obviously I was taking someone’s info and didn’t know their name but felt embarrassed to ask because I had met them before. ÂAs of this morning, I am officially down to 238 Contacts and it feels really good!
Important Notice- If you are one of the people who’s last names I didn’t know so I wasn’t sure which “Katie” you were or we haven’t spoken in over a year, Â Please identify yourself if you text me.
“Hey it’s Jenny…saw Britney Spears on TV, thought of you and wanted to say hi”
is so much easier than
You- “saw Britney Spears on TV, thought of you and wanted to say hi”
Me- “Awe…LOVE BRITNEY! Who is this?”
XOXO and Happy Spring Cleaning!
