There is a new exhibit at the Charleston Museum called Unveiled. It focuses on Wedding Fashion & Traditions in the South.
I’m definitely not a wedding kind of girl. I’m pretty sure I was the worst Bride ever…I didn’t want to ring the bell at the store when I said “YES to the dress”, I was annoyed at how long it took to take pics after the ceremony because I wanted to get to the fun with all the people that came to the wedding, and being as classy as I am, the minute I could take off my shoes and throw on a trucker hat at the reception…I did.

With that being said, I love hands on history. It was really amazing to see the different dresses and read about the women that wore them. There we’re dresses from the 1700’s until now.
While walking through the exhibit we noticed a slightly rebellious In the 1880’s the women were wearing crazy color wedding dresses, deep purples & blues (see in the pic below). Like Jenny said, “It’s the 80’s…the 1880’s but still the 80’s”.

One of my favorite parts of the night is I got to wear one of my bridesmaid’s dresses (a bridesmaid in my wedding) for the kick off party. Thanks Mendi!
The exhibit is open until July 10th. Get more info CharlestonMuseum.org
