In normal Friday Night Fashion, Brandy and I decided to grab a drink at Red’s before heading downtown for a night of fun. Less than an hour into the night I get a call from Intern Beth (she used to intern at 95SX).
Beth: Brooke! It’s Intern Beth
Brooke: Hey Girl!
Beth: BILL MURRAY IS WALKING INTO RED’S RIGHT NOW! He’s in a blue Piggly Wiggly shirt and has pink hair.
Brooke: Pink hair? Wait WHAT!?!? I’m at Red’s. HOLY S! #BrookeBillQuest is about to come true.
This is it! It’s the moment I’ve been waiting for.
I was filled with butterflies, excitement, and vodka. (a great combo I might add) A few people came over and informed me of his whereabouts. He was sitting inside next to the wall when you first walk in. He was with his family waiting for a table. I finally came up with my approach. I was going to just go in there and tell him about Bill Quest 2010, explain I’m not crazy, and ask him to join me for one drink (which I would already have because I was planning on asking the waitress what he was drinking prior).
I walked inside to the bathroom to scope out the situation. He had already been seated. The family was ordering. I went into the bathroom and dolled up a bit when I heard one of the girls say “I saw Bill Murray and one of our friends came up to him and asked for a picture. He said he wanted to wait till he was done with dinner with his family.†While applying gloss I started thinking about the situation. Did I really want to be the rude girl that interrupted his family dinner? NO! It didn’t feel right. It felt forced. I SHOULD RIGHT HIM A NOTE! So I did, on the back of a receipt. It was donated to the trash can after everyone said this was not the way to have our first interaction.
I left. A part of me was devastated. A part of me was excited about being that close to greatness. A part of me was in awe of his beauty and pink hair (we’re kindred spirits…I’ve had pink hair before too). I know this isn’t it for us. Bill Quest 2010 will continue. I’ve had a taste and now I want it all.
