Yet Another-New Year…New Me!

Hair Extensions

For the past 2 years I have made the resolution to BE PRESENT in my life (aka in DC)…this year, it is finally happening. Third time’s a charm right? This time around it’s different. I feel different. I want it…before I was just saying I wanted it because I knew I needed it.  This resolution will NOT fall in the “unfulfilled” category.

Quick little background for those that don’t know- I don’t think I was truly ready to leave Charleston when I packed my bags 2 1/2 years ago and moved to the Nation’s Capital. I may have physically left, but emotionally I was stuck. I was living vicariously through my friend’s Facebook updates, going back as OFTEN as possible, and you couldn’t get through a conversation with me without my saying something along the lines of, “Well in Charleston we….”

It was a major source of my unhappiness…and in 2013 ain’t NOBODY got time for that! (yes I’m making the youtube Bronchitis reference!)

One of the biggest steps I have taken to establish my residence in Washington is…wait for it (for those that know me you will know what a big deal this is)…getting my hair extensions done here. My extensions were a legitimate reason (in my head) to make the trip to Charleston every 3 months…I mean I HAD to get my hair done right? Finding a great hairstylist is like finding a great boyfriend, you can’t just pick one out of a phone book and expect it to work…and most of all, I love Holly at Paloosh Salon!

*SERIOUSLY if you live in Charleston…you should go to Paloosh (843) 766-0037. They have the best stylists!

But it was time…and yesterday I had a consultation with Megan at The W Salon in Burke. My old extensions are out (so I am natural…don’t expect to see me out in public!!!!) and the new ones are going in on Sunday!

To New Hair and Being Present!

I had the same issues when moving from Atlanta to here about 4 years ago.  There are still things that make me homesick for my good ol ATL but they are always slightly more diminished when my husband and I go back for holidays, etc…. Keep up the good personal work.  Everything in its own time.

  • Bravo 🙂

As you know I do the same, especially with my hair at Paloosh… I have found it hard to move on also!!! But as I await for 20 of my Charleston Hatsisters to arrive in NY I haven’t gotten to your point yet… But good for you!!! Xoxo

  • Thanks guys! It’s taken a long time BUT I’m really feeling good about this year and the future =)
